FWD Technology and Innovation Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., known as FWD TIM, was set up in late 2019 and is part of the FWD Group. FWD TIM in Malaysia is one of the FWD Group’s office locations serving multiple markets within FWD Group and employing team members in various functions including Group Digital & Data, Digital Innovation, the IT Hub and our Centre of Excellence comprising Actuarial, Finance and Product Proposition functions.
PURPOSE

Lead, drive and direct the DIDC Digital Innovation function that operates across FWD Group to:
  • Collaborate with FWD markets and functions to drive operationalization of innovation prioritization and execution
  • Drive innovation roadmaps and collaboration on solution design to achieve optimal business outcomes
  • Deliver innovations to drive operational efficiencies, cost efficiencies and increased revenues
KEY ACCOUNTAIBILITIES
  • Lead to define the innovation roadmap and implementation strategy with Group & Market teams and business leaders across identified product / platform innovations, driving the adoption of the new innovative technologies.
  • Lead the development and infrastructure to define the best practices through innovative technology solution, design and delivery and drive for automatic software deployment in a fast changing environment.
  • Define measurable and quality metrics for product/platforms as assigned as they have a sizable impact to the business performance at each market and requires advanced judgement to develop new and practical solutions.
  • Plan and design systems for scale, harmonization and reusability to support leverageable innovation assets
  • Advise and facilitate prioritization and delivery in concert with Group/Market digital and technology functions and business leaders’ requirements and direction
  • Partner Group Digital, Group Technology and respective business, functions, country and peer Digital teams to prioritize technologies to achieve target business outcomes, and benefits;
  • Collaborate and partner stakeholders to manage innovation roadmaps as a going concern, aligned with defined target business goals and target IT architecture
  • Advise and work closely with markets and business functions on budget assessments, justifications and approvals for implementation and operationalization to drive business benefit and efficiencies
  • Comprehensive understanding of the business and organization from end functions and the inter-dependencies with other functions as it represents the product/platform innovation function to align on defining innovation roadmaps, prioritization and implementation details in respective steering committee, e.g., integration projects
  • Lead and manage to ensure coordinated design, development and deployment plans with business functions, digital and technology teams
  • Ensure optimal resource allocation of team capacity, and continuous improvement of team performance and their technical and non-technical competencies on product/platform innovation
  • Lead and steward the management of product/platform innovation through its life cycle, including resources planning, budget monitoring, clients’ expectation management, change management, contingency planning, risk assessment and mitigation.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
  • Successful product/platform innovations development based on KPIs set.
  • Achieve KPIs set for innovations delivery and management.
  • Lead and own the operationalization of product/platforms developed.
  • Manages innovation risks, identifies, determines and recommends risk mitigation solution as appropriate.
  • Lead mentorship and provide guidance to innovation team members.
  • Onboarding of projects on the product / platforms based on KPIs agreed.
EXTERNAL & INTERNAL CONTACTS
This position will support the VP, Head of Digital Innovation to:
  • Manage cross-functional, external and internal partners for country-specific and group-led product/platform innovation onboarding and initiatives
  • Guide cross-functional stakeholders and resources to deliver on target product/platform innovation roadmap
  • Ensure execution and co-ordination with peer and Country digital and technology leaders and teams
  • Lead vendor management for relevant product/platform innovations
  • Ensure efficient communicate and coordination with peer Group Digital and Group Technology teams across application, infrastructure and security on the product/platforms innovation roadmap, design, and implementation
DECISION MAKING
  • Act as key Subject Matter Expert and Leader for product/platforms innovation
  • Collaborate and coordinate with relevant parties through triage and consultation to fulfil product/platform innovations delivery
  • Support resource allocation and prioritization decisions to fulfil product/platform innovation objectives
  • Lead and manage prioritization decisioning and allocation to achieve optimal resourcing outcomes to fulfill product/platform innovation goals
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent, minimum 15 years' working experience in Information Technology, with at least 5 years at a senior managerial position or technology leadership or above, specialized in products, platforms and system development
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Proven track records in managing product/platforms, preferably experienced in implementing insurance IT systems/projects in multi-geography environment
  • Implementation experience in Life insurance systems, e.g. Point of sales, compensation system and workflow will be an advantage.
KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • In-depth knowledge of multiple organization functions and its business contributions and requirements to achieve business goals
  • Solid understanding of the technology industry, including current and emerging digital solutions
  • Deep appreciation of latest and emerging technologies and practice, such as DevOps, Cloud, Microservice, Serverless and Mobile development
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud architectures to include Azure, AWS, GCP and hybrid cloud architectures
  • Advanced knowledge of messaging architectures including event driven architecture and integration patterns
  • Well versed with Agile methodology
  • Well versed with frontend and , backend technologies, relational and non-relational database, streaming data store.
  • Business domain knowledge and financial acumen skills
  • Subject matter expert of the systems and whole process - end to end knowledge from development to maintenance of the system
