System Performance Monitoring
REQUIREMENTS (Qualification/Experience/Skills)
Diploma / Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Computer Engineering
Professional Accreditation:
Certifications in Systems (Oracle Solaris, IBM AIX, HP- UX, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Enterprise Linux, CentOS & etc.
Middleware (JBoss/MQ/IIB) Systems Administration & management, Virtual Infrastructure, ITIL foundation as well as Systems Management – Performance & Capacity Management systems and etc.
Preferred level of Experience (by years/function/industry):
Other skills required:
- Perform technical administration and support for large scale enterprise wide ESB solutions, IBM Integration Bus (IIB) and IBM MQ software across distributed platforms and day to day operations.
- Supporting System Performance Monitoring to ensure middleware systems & all monitored production systems are under the team's preview and responsibilities to ensure monitored systems operating in optimum level and meeting agreed SLA / OLA.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
EAI Operational
- Operate and follow operational standards, MQ policies & procedures when performing day to day tasks.
- Deploy and support of middleware components like WMQ/WMB including application development cycles to implement, configure debug app. problems as they relate to MQ.
- Perform Websphere MQ base installation, configuration and tuning e.g. maximum message buffer pools page sets
- Define MQ objects including queues and channels
- Configure security enhancement (authorization, authentication, SSL, etc)
- Administration of MQ application queues & WMQ Logging
- Monitoring of WMQ resources utilization
- Perform regular housekeeping, maintenance and performance tuning
- Stop/start WMQ/IIB services.
- Backup & restore of WMQ objects definition
- Perform MQ support & Problem Determination
- Perform connectivity testing from client applications to WMQ, and distributed communication.
- MQ version upgrade/patches
- Participate in Disaster Recovery Exercise
- Perform MQ performance monitoring/tuning and optimization /capacity planning.
- Participation in project work and implementation
- WMQ High Availability/failover test for new integrated system implementation
- Create and maintain up-to-date MQ documentation (installation & configuration, security, user and operation guides) and DR documentation for all MQ integrated systems
System Performance Monitoring
- Support Performance Monitoring tools and collaboration with other parties to resolve application performance issues and restore acceptable customer experience usage of the application.
- Review and generate monthly reporting for System Performance Monitoring.
- Drive continual improvement into monitoring /measurement/ alerting practices and tools within the infrastructure team
- Train other operations and IT associates on the monitoring tools usability
