About the Role

Backyard Products is looking for a dynamic, experienced Sr. Graphic Designerto join our in-house Brand & Marketing Team, based out of our headquarters located the heart of downtown Ann Arbor, MI. (Remote / Hybrid work scenarios will be considered.) Our Brand & Marketing Team is thoughtful, collaborative, and works cross-functionally to ideate and execute creative work that connects with shoppers and creates extraordinary brand experiences. The Sr. Graphic Designer should have in-depth branding and marketing experience and a proven track record of developing designs such as brand identities (concept through implementation across media types), website UX/UI and layout, digital marketing collateral, print collateral, POP and display signage, and hands-on execution of all the above. This cross-functional thinker and doer will work closely with internal and external teams to ensure best-in-class branding, marketing, messaging, and performance across all marketing channels.

Key Responsibilities: (Other duties as assigned)

  • Develop branded assets to reinforce and support individual brands in our portfolio, including websites, digital marketing assets, social media assets, still graphics for video, etc
  • Participate with the team in re-branding work; work alongside strategists and copywriters to either redefine or refine an existing brand in a way that will better connect with modern shoppers
  • Create orginal identity branding: identity/logo concepts, revisions, finalization, and companion graphic elements
  • Design direct-to-consumer website UX, UI, and page layouts; work with strategists and copywriters to ideate and implement best-in-class, converting website designs; partner with developers to communicate your designs and confirm that the finished product is pixel-perfect
  • Work within retailers’ internal product page design systems to create best-in-class product pages for our products on retailers’ websites
  • Create print collateral, POP displays, and signage, from concept through print-ready files; use copy docs, photo assets, and layout guidelines to create layouts
  • Develop photo and video strategies: use mood boards and sample photography to define how a brand’s photo and video assets should be captured/manipulated to create brand consistency
  • Create mood boards for photo and video shoots; participate as an Art Director in photo and video shoots
  • Collaborate with other Designers, Copywriters, and Strategists to make creative work the best it can be; execute at the direction of Marketing Managers and Team Director
  • Perform personal brainstorms, and participate in group brainstorms, to ideate new solutions to business/creative challenges
  • Participate in creative critiques, as a Creative both giving and receiving critique

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of Graphic Design experience
  • Portfolio that demonstrates proven expertise and high-quality execution in the Key Responsibilities. Submission upon application is required. Applications received without portfolio will not be considered.
  • Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc); skilled use of a website layout tool such as Adobe XD

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design
  • 10+ years of experience in Graphic Design
  • Agency experience
