Job Summary

The Nutrition Associate will work effectively with Sports Performance, Sports Medicine and other support staff to provide a comprehensive approach to Student Athlete's health and performance. In this role, you will provide nutrition counseling, education, and medical nutrition therapy to individual student-athletes, teams, and coaches. You will help oversee and coordinate student workforce to maintain fueling stations in an organized and food safe manner that will include maintenance, stocking and distribution of nutritional supplements to individual student-athletes and teams as well as help coordinate team meals as needed and provide education and feedback at those meals. Additional duties will include:


  • Serving as resource to student-athletes during meals provided at the Athletic Dining Room
  • Assisting with menu planning and coordinate team dining and catered meals and as needed
  • Creating and delivering educational information for teams and individual athletes
  • Interpreting, summarizing and sharing body composition and bone density data with student-athletes, coaches, a sports medicine and sports performance staff under oversight of Director of Sports Nutrition
  • Maintaining active media communications
  • Helping manage team nutrition budget for individual sports
  • Evaluating dietary supplements for safety, legality, efficacy and cost

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition/Dietetics
  • 1 year of experience as a Registered Dietitian working in the following areas: clinical nutrition, one-on-one nutrition counseling, sports nutrition, eating disorders, public speaking, budget management & procurement, food service & menu development
  • Excellent communication skills with both individuals and groups
  • Ability to motivate constituents, including students, athletes, sports medicine staff, and administrators
  • Ability to work independently
  • Competence in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Understanding of athletes and their training, via coaching experience, previous employment or candidate’s own sports participation
  • Knowledge of various behavior change strategies
  • Knowledge and experience with dietary supplementation for athletes
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Experience with dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry
  • Knowledge and experience using various types of media to reach constituents
